A Forthright Witness
We are forthright in our faith. Jesus said "Let your light shine before men" [Mt 5:16]. We take this instruction to heart. Perhaps this seems obvious. But Christian groups are sometimes pressured to sideline their faith in exchange for financial gains. We do not compromise the word of the Lord. Even when the going gets tough.
An Obedient and Willing Spirit
We believe in one body of Christ. The Missions Hotline co-operates with all the mainstream Christian denominations. Our members come from various denominations. We agree with the position advocated by Promise Keepers : We must strive for both truth and unity. We are also mindful of Jesus' instruction "Love each other, as I have loved you." [Jn. 15:12]. We note that this is a commandment, not an option.
Accountability and Integrity
We are firm believers in integrity before God. This requires accountability. Scriptural accountability for our group is currently provided by Pastor David Hatch (Our Savior Lutheran Church, Green Bay, Wisconsin). Financial accountability is provided by YES Inc., an independent group of Christian accountants in Virginia. We are grateful to Pastor Hatch and to YES for their honest oversight. We also consider ourselves accountable to you - our brothers and sisters in Christ. Please let us know if you perceive a problem.
We Convey Our Faith, Not Our Culture
This is not a scriptural requirement but we think it's important. We do not treat any people - especially indigenous peoples - as "primitives". We don't try to Westernize people from other cultures. We respect people's traditions ... we do our best to uphold them. We also don't believe in double standards. If our brothers are living in grass huts, so are we. We don't stay at the Hilton.
We are Non-Political and Non-Violent
Our priority is on spiritual issues. We don't push politics. We try to accomodate local systems of government within the constraints of Godly principles. We do believe in peace and justice for all peoples. We do not advocate violence.
